Camp America

Camp America was an incredible opportunity that allowed me to develop valuable leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment. In the summers of 2023 and 2024, I embarked on a journey to a country I had never visited before to work as an outdoor activity instructor. I led diverse groups of children, fostering teamwork, building their confidence, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Beyond working with campers, I also mentored adults training for my role, helping them develop the skills needed to succeed. Despite the long hours, countless scrapes and insect bites, and sleepless nights spent completing paperwork, I found immense beauty in the experience. Traversing deep into the woods with a group of children became one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. This opportunity strengthened my ability to adapt to new challenges, think creatively and interact with a diverse range of people. Professionally, this experience helped me develop essential skills for my future career. Collaborating with an international team enhanced my cross-cultural communication skills, reinforcing my ability to connect with people from various backgrounds. On a deeper level, this experience shaped me into a more resilient, patient and ultimately better human being.

Conferences

I actively seek out conferences and networking events to expand my knowledge, connect with industry professionals, and gain insights that support my growth as a marketer. One particularly inspiring event I attended was the International Women’s Day networking event at Bluestone National Park Resorts Ltd. This experience provided a fantastic opportunity to engage with like-minded professionals, celebrate the achievements of women in various industries, and gain a deeper understanding of real-world marketing strategies. A highlight of the event was an insightful tour with the Sales & Marketing team, where I had the chance to learn about Bluestone’s marketing strategy first-hand. The mentorship and advice from industry experts, including Bethan Rees and Daf Bevan, were invaluable, reinforcing key lessons I aim to apply in my future career. Listening to leaders like Deb Bowen Rees share their career journeys was both motivating and empowering. Events like these remind me of the importance of networking, collaboration, and continuous learning, elements that are essential for success in the marketing industry.

student ambassador

As a Student Ambassador for Swansea University’s ‘Go Global’ programme, I played a key role in promoting international opportunities to over 1,000 prospective students. Through engaging presentations and digital campaigns, I effectively communicated the programme’s benefits, contributing to increased applications. I also delivered interactive campus tours, providing tailored advice to prospective students to enhance their experience and support enrolment goals. Additionally, I assisted in the planning and execution of university events, demonstrating strong organisational and time-management skills. This role strengthened my ability to engage diverse audiences, communicate persuasively, and manage multiple responsibilities which are valuable skills for a future in marketing.
